Every dollar that you donate makes a difference to someone’s life.
At Bethany, we want to live in a community where children have a good start in life, where families are safe, loving and connected, and everyone has an opportunity to participate.
We ensure the voice of people accessing our services are at the centre of all we do. With them as our collaborators, we create and facilitate pathways to a better future, no matter a person’s socio-economic status, beliefs, disability, gender, race or background.
We strive to reach the people who need us at the right time and the right place. But to do this we need your support.

Frequently asked questions about donations
Emma’s* Story
Donations provided through the Giving Tree Appeal transformed single mother Emma* and her toddler, Jordan’s* Christmas experience.
Last Christmas Emma and her son had just moved into transitional housing after spending more than a month living in a hotel. The family had been doing it tough for a while.
“Christmas last year wasn’t like I wanted it to be. The memories weren’t ones which I wanted to recreate.”
With the help of the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal community donations, Emma alike many other vulnerable people received extra financial support to use on things such as food for a Christmas meal, petrol to attend Christmas festivities, books and specialist toys. Items the family desperately needed.
For Emma, having extra financial support at Christmas time empowers her to provide for her family and change their narrative.

Smith* Family Story
With only a single income the Smith* family were familiar with missing out on what some of us don’t think twice about purchasing and experiencing. Buying a ticket to visit a local attraction, attending a school excursion or enjoying an ice-cream out.
After both experiencing childhood trauma, Heather and Luke* rebuilt their lives so that they could provide their three children opportunities they had not received. But it didn’t come easy and without hard work and sacrifice.
Their single income shared between the five of them doesn’t go far. Once all basic necessities are accounted for, including rent, bills, transport costs and food, there’s usually little left over for ‘the fun experiences’ which the family can enjoy together outside of the home.
Through Bethany’s Little Things Appeal the Smith’s received gift cards to attend Geelong’s Museum of Play and Art (MoPA).
Heather said that the smiles on the faces of her children at MoPA “makes all of our hard work even more worthwhile”.
“We’ve taken the kids to MoPA in the past before our rent went up, and they absolutely loved playing with all of the interactive displays. The Appeal has given us that little bit extra to do fun things like this again, it makes all the difference”.
