At Bethany, we really appreciate our community’s kindness and generosity, especially when you want to donate products and gifts to provide to the people we are supporting.

In particular, we can always distribute the following NEW and UNUSED items:

Second-hand/used goods

For safety and hygiene reasons, and the fact that we don’t have resourcing to sort, collect or store much within our offices, we are unable to accept donations of second-hand or used items.

Here are some suggestions of places where you can donate your second-hand items:

    Case Study

    The impact of your donation

Escaping a relationship with family violence often means walking out of your home with very little of your possessions. Perhaps this is just a bag with a few pairs of clothes, a few toiletries and maybe a spare pair of shoes if you have room. Zara* left with only what she could carry and were absolute necessities for her survival.

She reached out to Bethany during an extremely tough time, she was experiencing homelessness and felt hopeless. She knew that her journey seeking stability was only just beginning, and that long term change would take time. Fortunately, she was also able to receive immediate and tangible support from Bethany.

Through generously donated goods Zara was able to recieve clothes for her upcoming job interview and linen to use in her crisis housing unit. She also had a towel to shower with and a comb to brush her hair. She was able to feel worthy and ready to take on what was next.
