Bethany and BCYF and have today announced they have agreed to merge into a new single organisation.

Mr Chris Bowly, Bethany Board Chair, and Mr David McDonald, BCYF Board Chair, said the decision was independently made by both Boards, based on consultation and feedback from our service users, staff and stakeholders, as well as due diligence work undertaken.

“We believe that a new, larger organisation will provide tangible long-term benefits for our service users, staff and the communities we serve,” Mr Bowly and Mr McDonald said.

“We have seen an increasing demand for the services we provide and the needs of the people we support are becoming more complex.  The decision to merge our two organisations was made based on the belief and evidence that we can achieve even stronger outcomes for our community as one single organisation.”

“Today we are just beginning the process of creating a new organisation. One that builds on the strengths of BCYF and Bethany. From here, there is a significant amount of work required to prepare for the merger.

Both BCYF and Bethany will continue to operate as normal, and we would like to remind the community that we are committed to being here to support you,” they said.

It is expected that the merger of the two agencies will be finalised no later than 30 June 2023.
