With free three and four year old kindergarten next year, all Bethany Kindergartens were open for families to visit during Education Week from 23 to 27 May, 2022, and hundreds of families took advantage to explore.

Bethany Kindergarten Services (BKS) were excited to welcome children and families to visit their kindergartens in early May, especially after two years of COVID restrictions.

BKS Executive Manager Anneliese Knell highlighted the importance of children attending a local kindergarten.

“By attending a neighbourhood kindergarten, families can develop strong bonds and relationships in their local area,” she said.

“The Open Days are an opportunity to meet our skilled and passionate educators, learn about our kindergartens and play-based curriculum. Families can ask questions about kindergarten and how we will support children as they take this key step in their educational journey.”

In 2023, state government funding will subsidize up to 15 hours of kindergarten for three and four year old children. This allows children to access two years of early childhood education prior to starting school, and ensures that children’s learning is led by qualified kindergarten teachers.

“Two years of kindergarten are better than one, our play-based learning programs for three and four year old children provide the best possible start to a child’s education journey and will assist in preparing them for school,” Ms Knell said.

BKS three and four year old kindergarten programs are free for most concession and health-care card holders.
